Common Requests for Accommodation

The following lists should give you an idea of the range of accommodations which might be requested; they are not exhaustive. A person with a disability may ask for an accommodation not listed below. If this happens, make your best effort to provide that accommodation. If you think the request is unreasonable, or are not quite sure why it would be appropriate, contact the ADA Compliance Officer for Program Access at 459-2089 (459-4806 TDD). She can discuss with you whether or not a requested accommodation is appropriate, or suggest alternative accommodations.

Someone with a mobility impairment may request:

  • close-in parking
  • an accessible path with no stairs or curbs
  • directions from the nearest accessible bus stop
  • accessible water fountain and bathroom facilities

Someone with a vision impairment may request:

  • reserved seating in the front of the room

  • additional lighting (e.g., in hallways or offices where lights have burned out)

Someone with a hearing impairment may request:

  • reserved seating in the front of the room
  • an Assistive Listening Device

Someone with a stamina impairment may request:
