The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a sweeping civil rights bill that is designed to ensure that people with disabilities are able to participate in all areas of public life. Here are some tips to help you access programs at UC Santa Cruz. Applying for a job? The ADA requires the university to be non-discriminatory in all aspects of employment, including application procedures, selection criteria, and providing reasonable accommodations. More information about the legal aspects of the ADA on employment can be found elsewhere at this Web site at Access to Employment. Want to use the library? The university library provides a range of services to people with disabilities. Whenever possible, services are integrated into regular library activities. For more information, please see their Web page listing services and contact numbers at Library Services for People with Disabilities. Want to attend a program or event? All programs of the university should be accessible to people with disabilities. If you are unsure about the accessibility of a facility or location, or require reasonable accommodations such as Assistive Listening Devices, reserved front row seats, or enlarged materials, please contact the event sponsor, which should be included in any publicity for the event. If you have difficulty locating the event sponsor, please contact Susan Willats (831/459-3759 or willats@ucsc.edu). Having trouble getting information from a UCSC Web site? Contact the department responsible for the Web site in question. If you have difficulty locating the Web contact person, or their department, please contact Susan Willats (831/459-3759 or willats@ucsc.edu). Back to The ADA at UCSC Back to UCSC's Home Page
