The majority of disability-related accommodations involve no- or low-cost common-sense approaches, such as making materials available in alternate formats, scheduling programs in accessible rooms, or renting Assisting Listening Devices from Media Services, etc. Each campus unit is to budget for such accommodations, taking into account the number of accommodations it has provided in the past, the amount of public contact the unit has, and any other appropriate information (e.g., the knowledge that a Braille user will be utilizing a unit's programs for the year). The following three-tiered approach to budgeting for ADA program access
has been used at UCSC since the passage of the ADA.
For facility-related accommodations (e.g., installation of power-assist doors, handrails, curb cuts, etc.), please contact Susan Willats at 459-3759 (or willats@ucsc.edu). For employment-related accommodations (e.g. adaptive hardware or software, or ergonomic equipment), please contact Kelly Roberts, Disability Management Coordinator, at 459-4602 (or roberts@ucsc.edu.)
