Access to Transportation

There are a variety of ways to get around the UCSC campus. Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) has a lot of information about transit, paratransit, and parking. Check out the TAPS Web site for details. What follows here is a very brief rundown of accessible services available.

The Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District (SCMTD Metro) operates an extensive bus service throughout Santa Cruz County. It is free to students with a valid UCSC student ID card, and free to all staff and faculty with a faculty/staff bus pass. All Metro routes are wheelchair accessible.

Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) operates a variety of shuttle services. The campus Day and Night Shuttle routes are wheelchair accessible, as are the "premium" services, which take you off-campus.

TAPS also offers a BART Connector -- a weekend shuttle between the campus and the Fremont BART station. Again, this shuttle service is accessible, but wheelchair access must be requested when making your reservation. Call 459-3779 during weekdays between 1pm and 4pm.

TAPS offers paratransit services to campus constituents who meet the ADA requirements. More information can be found by following the link below.

SCMTD Metro offers paratransit services to residents of Santa Cruz County who meet the ADA requirements. Paratransit provides off-campus transportation to those whose disability prevents them from using the regular Metro bus system. For more information call SCMTD at 425-8600.
